An absolutely unmissible trip is to M. Capanne, the highest
peak on all Elba, from which you can admire a unique and marvelous
panorama. After a day of rain and strong wind, the sky is
swept of haze which is therefore the best moment to be on
the summit from where you can see the whole island of Elba,
the continent and the nearby islands: Capraia,
Montecristo,
Pianosa,
Giglio and Corsica.

Note: About 200 m before reaching the town of Marciana
there is a parking lot. The departure point of the funicular
is located a few meters above, though not visible from the
lot due to the thick chestnut trees; the same as those which
will accompany you for a great part of the journey to the
summit.
